The Pilot Board Professional Development Committee, along with Houston Pilots Presiding Officer Captain Robert Thompson and Port Houston Senior Director, Asset Management and Strategic Coordination Charlie Jenkins, took a helicopter tour of the Houston Ship Channel. During the tour Commissioner Beverly and Commissioner Keeney were shown helicopter landing spots for emergency situations and hurricane preparedness. They were additionally briefed on what to expect with Project 11 by Mr. Jenkins and how a helicopter could be used for embarking/ disembarking pilots in the event of a hurricane/ rough weather by Captain Thompson.
